I’m a collaborative educator dedicated to developing socially conscious designers. My teaching emphasizes critical thinking, visual communication, and human-centered, environmentally responsible design. I guide students through higher levels of Bloom’s taxonomy to help them turn theory into meaningful action.
At the core of my philosophy is participatory design—working with communities, listening to diverse voices, and designing with empathy. I encourage students to see themselves as change-makers who consider the social, cultural, and ecological impact of every decision.
Teaching Phylospiphy
I believe in personalized learning to unlock each student’s potential. Recognizing the uniqueness of every student’s cognitive profile, I integrate Herrmann's Whole Brain Model into my pedagogy to celebrate cognitive diversity and create inclusive studios that leverage individual strengths. This model resonates with architecture students across analytical, practical, relational, and imaginative domains, and forms the foundation of my teaching principles:
-
Inspiration (Experimental & Relational): I spark creativity by connecting studio work to real architectural challenges through case studies, site analyses, and hands-on design exercises. I encourage experimentation with tools like Rhino, Grasshopper, SketchUp, and InDesign, and I build trusting studio relationships where students feel safe to take risks and develop their own design voice.
-
Inclusion (Relational & Analytical): I cultivate an equitable, collaborative environment by valuing every student’s perspective and guiding them through structured workflows. I integrate environmental analysis, cultural context, and user needs to help students design socially responsible and culturally informed work—especially in courses like Environmental Analysis & Site Planning.
-
Impact (Analytical & Practical): I empower students to design for real-world change. By blending analytical skills with practical design applications, I help them create sustainable, human-centered, and buildable solutions that respond to community needs and enhance quality of life.
